Qwest Signs Multimillion Dollar Contract to Provide Allina Hospitals and Clinics With Voice and Data Services

DENVER, Feb. 27, 2006 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced that it has signed a new contract with Minneapolis-based Allina Hospitals & Clinics, a not-for-profit system of hospitals, clinics and other health care services. Under the terms of the agreement, worth $7.5 million, Allina will use Qwest's long-distance services and GeoMax, a high-capacity data networking service.

With Qwest's GeoMax service, Allina is connecting four major metropolitan hospitals, seven regional hospitals and 43 clinics for voice and data services. The redundancy and high-speed bandwidth offered by this service allows Allina to efficiently deliver automated record and diagnostic imaging capabilities to patients and providers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Additionally, Allina will be able to centralize voicemail services, call management, interactive voice response (IVR), and dictation applications, as well as eliminate call-center boundaries.

"Given the highly sensitive data our organization works with on a daily basis, it was critical to find a reputable service provider that would allow our hospitals and clinics to gain secure access to patient records as soon as they're needed," said David Lind, I.S. director of Allina Hospitals & Clinics. "Qwest will also help us reduce I.T. costs by converging voice and data services."

"The Qwest relationship with Allina has been extremely successful so far, and we look forward to continue providing them with the high-quality tools required to meet patient needs and better optimize their overall network," said Tom Richards, executive vice president, business markets group for Qwest. "With Qwest, customers can easily blend traditional voice services with next-generation technology to make a solution that's right for their business."

Allina Hospitals & Clinics is a not-for-profit system of hospitals, clinics and other health care services. The organization's 23,000 employees, 5,000 physicians and 2,500 volunteers are dedicated to meeting the lifelong health care needs of communities throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
