Qwest's New Anywhere Voice Mail Allows Customers To Stay Connected -- Even When Their Phones Aren?t

Denver, February 13, 2001 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q), the broadband Internet Communications company, has announced a new voice messaging solution called Anywhere Voice Mail that enables customers to stay connected during the interim period following the disconnection of their phone service.

According to government statistics, more than 20 percent of Americans move each year, which leaves many people disconnected from friends and family while between households.

"Anywhere Voice Mail is an excellent way to serve a customer in transition," said Randy Meissner, Senior Vice President - Marketing for Qwest. "It lets customers stay connected - whether they're a family that's moving or a college student on summer break trying to stay in touch with friends. Or if you've placed a classified ad, but don't want a heavy volume of calls coming into your home, it's the perfect solution."

Qwest's Anywhere Voice Mail is now available throughout most of Qwest's 14-state local service area. The new product is as easy to use as Qwest's current voice messaging service, but has added value because customers do not need a physical wireline to take advantage of the offer.

A unique feature of Anywhere Voice Mail is that customers can establish a local presence in a state they may not be living in. For example, a person relocating from Washington to Colorado can set up in advance an Anywhere Voice Mail account, with a Colorado telephone number to use for job hunting and other relocation activities.

In most cases, when the person is ready to settle into their new location, they can begin using that same number they've already been using through Anywhere Voice Mail. It provides a seamless transition for customers by allowing them to have a local number from the moment they begin using the service.

Anywhere Voice Mail not only helps people on the move, it provides customers a simple way to decrease the volume of incoming calls to their homes by having access to voicemail.

"One of our customers is the president of a local homeowners association and needed a solution to reduce the high-volume of calls coming to his home on behalf of the organization. For $12.95 a month, Qwest was able to provide him with an alternative by enabling him to re-direct association members to contact him through his Anywhere Voice Mail account. All he had to do was include the new number in his newsletters," Meissner said.

Customers can get Anywhere Voice Mail by calling Qwest at 1-800-244-1111. There is a flat rate of $12.95 per month for unlimited use and a one-time $10.00 activation fee.
