Qwest Communications Now Offers High-Speed DSL Service In Bozeman

Bozeman, Mont., December 17, 2001 ? Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q), the broadband communications company, today announced the deployment of Qwest Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service in Bozeman, bringing advanced broadband communications services to many customers within the community. The high-speed, ?always-on,? connection allows customers to surf the Internet at speeds ranging from 256 Kilobits per second to 7 Megabits per second, or up to 125 times faster than a traditional 56K modem.

?We?re pleased to provide customers in Bozeman with one of the fastest, most reliable Internet connections available anywhere in the country,? said Rick Hays, Qwest vice president of policy and law for Montana.

Montana?s entire U.S. Congressional delegation has hailed the deployment and Qwest?s commitment to Montana. "I'm pleased to see this happen," said Montana Senator Conrad Burns. "This is a strong step by Qwest in improving broadband service to Montana.?

"I applaud Qwest for deploying broadband in the Bozeman area," said Montana Senator Max Baucus. "Working together, we can continue to create more good-paying jobs and boost the economy in the Gallatin Valley and across Montana."

"As more Montanans have access to high-speed Internet services, it opens up opportunities for education, health care and more jobs,? said Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg.

?Qwest is committed to offering a full slate of telecommunications options. Beginning next year, we hope to add long-distance to our product array, which will help customers save money on their monthly long-distance phone bill,? said Hays.

Qwest?s DSL service allows customers to use a single, traditional telephone line for simultaneous voice and access to the Internet. It is designed for small businesses, people with home offices or anyone who wants high-speed access to the Internet and always-on availability to the Internet and e-mail.

Providing the high-speed connection to the Internet will be Qwest's two business partners Bridgeband Communications and Internet Connect Services. Both partners' networks are equipped to connect to Qwest's DSL service.
