DENVER, Feb. 27, 2008 — Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE:Q) today announced it has won a new 10-year, $16 million-dollar contract with the Jefferson County School District to provide high-bandwidth data networking and Internet services to meet the ever-growing technology needs of students.
The Jefferson County School District will connect 107 schools using Qwest Metro Optical Ethernet (QMOE) services, providing the students, teachers and staff of each school with Internet speeds up to 100 Megabits per second (Mbps). The Jefferson County School District began implementing QMOE approximately two years ago to its 17 high schools and 19 middle schools, providing broadband speeds up to 100 Mbps to each school.
