ST. LOUIS, MO – February 13, 2006 – SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a leading global provider of managed and outsourced IT services, today announced that mobile entertainment company 3GUPLOAD.COM will use an integrated solution of SAVVIS’ managed hosting, utility services, and Content Delivery Network (CDN) to deliver its popular cell phone ring tones and games to consumers.
Under the terms of the agreement, 3GUPLOAD.COM will run its popular ecommerce website and store its rich media content using SAVVIS’ comprehensive IT utility infrastructure featuring virtualized servers, storage, load balancers and firewalls. SAVVIS’ CDN will provide fast, efficient, and secured downloads of 3G’s content. SAVVIS will also be providing 3GUPLOAD.COM with their first deployment of a fully managed Red Hat Global File System. Red Hat GFS is commonly used in clusters of enterprise applications to provide a consistent file system image across the server nodes.
“We expect the demands on our IT infrastructure to double within six months, so we wanted a long-term technology partner who could accommodate that kind of rapid growth,” said Blake Matheny Director of Technology, 3GUPLOAD.COM. “Although we initially looked at managed hosting options, the dynamic scalability of SAVVIS’ utility services, combined with the global capabilities of SAVVIS’ CDN, turned out to be a much better solution for us. Other companies offered us a piecemeal solution that involved several other vendors, but SAVVIS’ broad expertise and wholly-owned network footprint allow us to have just one provider for all our IT needs.”
Attracting more than three million registered users, 3GUPLOAD.COM has quickly become a leader in the rapidly expanding market for mobile entertainment. From the 3G website, customers can download song clips and ring tones from popular artists such as Kanye West, Madonna and Mariah Carey, as well as franchise games like “Prince of Persia.” The company also offers personal storage space and functional programs.
“3GUPLOAD.COM is leading the charge to turn mobile phones into mobile entertainment devices,” said Nathan Kerry, Vice President and General Manager of SAVVIS’ Media & Entertainment division. “They offer a huge selection of ring tones, games, and even personal files that are compatible with all the major phone carriers. With SAVVIS, 3GUPLOAD.COM can store their content and run their website using SAVVIS’ innovative IT utility platform and 3G customers can easily download these media files using SAVVIS’ global content delivery network.”
