Audio and Video Conferencing Best Practices

CenturyLink recognizes remote communication is critical during this time of unprecedented demand. We suggest you try these resource-conserving best practices to maintain consistent service:

 

  • Consider using alternatives to voice/video communications where possible: Use email, IM, threaded messaging, or pre-recorded content to communicate within your team in lieu of mobile or landline telephone access.
  • Minimize telephone or mobile access: Limit access to meeting participants who need to use webcasting or streaming capabilities; use recordings for broader communication.
  • Prioritize virtual meetings: Find alternative mediums or postpone non-urgent meetings.
  • Avoid “Top-of-the-Hour” scheduling: Stagger meeting start times; if possible, schedule meetings to begin 15-minutes before or after the top-of-the-hour.
  • Avoid busiest hours of the day:  Attempt to schedule virtual meetings or telephone/mobile conferences outside of the busiest hours (7am – 12pm EST) to help avoid congestion.
  • Leverage other access methods: If resources are unavailable for a critical call, try other access methods where possible, such as Dial-in Toll Free, Dial-in Toll, Click to Call Back, In-application VoIP, etc.
