ST. LOUIS, MO – May 28, 2005 – SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a leading global utility, today announced that Zoom Information, has chosen SAVVIS’ virtualized IT utility services to support growing demand for its innovative new Internet search services located at www.zoominfo.com. Zoom Information is a unique summarization search engine that finds, understands and extracts the latest online information about people and companies and instantly delivers it in concise and useful summaries. Under terms of the agreement, Zoom Information will deploy key elements of SAVVIS’ virtualized network, hosting, server and storage architectures in a single, pay-as-you-go service that will power the company’s front and back-end IT operations.
By migrating onto SAVVIS’ virtualized platform, Zoom Information will streamline its IT infrastructure and substantially reduce the amount of hardware it must buy and maintain. In addition, by its nature, the virtualized utility solution dramatically increases Zoom Information’s ability to scale its business up or down based on demand. The SAVVIS infrastructure provides a single, end-to-end IT solution that includes dynamic resource allocation, a comprehensive portfolio of managed security services, disaster recovery (with load balancing), and utilization of SAVVIS’ worldwide IP network. Ultimately, it provides Zoom Information with better IT performance and lower costs translating to higher value for both Zoom Information and consumers of its search services.
Zoom Information began looking for a new IT solution when it became clear that its continued growth and entry into new markets would stress its existing IT facility. Rather than purchase hardware and technology that would require considerable up-front costs to buy and significant expertise to manage and maintain, Zoom Information chose to implement SAVVIS’ virtualized utility services.
“SAVVIS will enable us to significantly increase flexibility—both in terms of scalability and in terms of human capital,” said Jeremy Rothman-Shore, Zoom Information VP of Research & Development. “By implementing SAVVIS’ hardware-as-a-service approach to IT infrastructure, we will spend less time managing servers and more time focusing on strategic business issues, such as building new search products. And, by moving from a capital-expenditure model to a more cost-effective operating-expenditure model we now have a highly agile IT architecture that grows with our business, delivers better performance and security, and lowers our overall IT costs by nearly 50%.”
“Zoom Information is at the forefront of a high-growth industry, and the company expects its traffic to increase by orders of magnitude in the next year,” said Vince DiMemmo, Senior Vice President, Product and Marketing for SAVVIS. “We’re pleased that Zoom Information has made SAVVIS an integral component of their long-term growth strategy and we believe their confidence in us is a direct reflection of our growing presence within the industry.”
SAVVIS launched its virtualized platform in 2004 and serves companies of all sizes across industries. SAVVIS’ virtualized platform is the only one that offers every single piece of the IT infrastructure ─ network, hosting, storage, and compute ─ on a pay-as-you-go, massively scalable basis. These virtualized, on-demand services require no up-front capital expense and can provide tailored service levels to match the unique needs of each application.
