MIAMI, March 13, 2008 – Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced it has a new, exclusive 3-year agreement worth more than $3 million with Watsco, Inc. and its subsidiaries Baker Distributing and Gemaire Distributors, to provide Qwest iQ Networking® services and high-speed data solutions. Based in Miami, Fla., Watsco is the largest independent distributor of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) products in the United States.
A Qwest customer since 2004, Watsco chose Qwest for its industry-leading wide area network (WAN) and multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) technologies and proven ability to deliver solutions on time, within budget and supported by exceptional customer service. Using a combination of Qwest iQ Networking, private and Internet port technology, CPE solutions and long-distance service, Qwest designed and is implementing a national network to seamlessly connect more than 360 Watsco subsidiary sites.
“Qwest’s innovative approach made it impossible to go with another provider,” said Floyd Houser, Information Technology director for Baker Distributing. "They didn’t just walk in; they really sold us by finding innovative ways to package our existing facilities into the proposal. Every part of the experience starting with the initial proposal, the project implementation, and Qwest’s simplified billing, has exceeded our expectations.”
By connecting its locations using Qwest’s iQ Networking services and high-speed data solutions, Watsco can maximize the benefits of covering a wide geographic area: greater customer convenience and the ability to better serve the time-sensitive demands of the replacement market. Qwest’s network solution will deliver the security and increased bandwidth to support Watsco’s growing 24/7 e-commerce business, and process purchasing transactions faster and more efficiently offering virtual locations and customers a higher level of service.
"Watsco wanted a provider capable of offering a total value package: state-of-the-art technology, an experienced and knowledgeable team, and 24/7 back-office support," said Tom Richards, executive vice president, Qwest Business Markets Group. ”Our customers entrust us to help their businesses grow and evolve, and we work to deserve their trust by understanding their needs and designing flexible solutions to support their success.”
