SAVVIS ST. LOUIS, MO – January 21, 2004 – SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ: SVVS), a global managed IP and managed hosting services provider, today announced that Walter P. Moore and Associates (Walter P. Moore), a leading engineering and consulting firm to public and private sector clients, has selected SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP Networking(SM) to connect its offices across the United States. Under the agreement, SAVVIS will provide managed network services supporting a broad range of data sharing, CRM, video conferencing, and financial applications, as well as Internet access.
The Texas-based firm’s selection criteria focused on reducing network costs while increasing bandwidth to reduce the latency and jitter affecting its advanced video conferencing system. Walter P. Moore chose SAVVIS over the incumbent network provider who could not deliver comparable quality of service without significantly increasing the company’s network costs.
“We chose SAVVIS over AT&T and other providers we researched because SAVVIS could demonstrate a cost-effective approach to reducing latency and jitter in order to properly implement our video conferencing system,” said James G. Jacobi, P.E., principal and CIO for Walter P. Moore and Associates. “SAVVIS expertise in delivering managed media services is reflected in their video-enabled network. The reliable performance of our internal video conferencing system will generate significant returns from reduced travel needs, increased distance learning activities, and faster data transfer amongst our offices,” said Jacobi.
Thomas S. Merkle, manager of information technology for Walter P. Moore and Associates, adds, “With SAVVIS, our video systems are smoother and more stable, and our clients are benefiting from improved workflow on projects that require multi-office collaboration. With the increased capacity of our network, we can better manage our projects and properly support applications that require the increased bandwidth that SAVVIS provides.”
“We’re pleased that Walter P. Moore has chosen SAVVIS to manage the unique needs of this leading engineering and consulting services firm,” said Jack Finlayson, SAVVIS president and chief operating officer. “Our virtualized service delivery model, rapid provisioning, and guaranteed Quality of Service promise gives professional service firms, such as Walter P. Moore, the best-in-class network performance on a local, national and global scale.”
