Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) has been selected by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) as a preferred provider for voice and data services. Under the two-year, multimillion dollar contract, Qwest offers a broad range of solutions to BCBSA’s Chicago headquarters and its member Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies nationwide.

Qwest will support Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies with a variety of data solutions, including Ethernet, multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), ATM, DSL, Internet and Frame Relay service. Qwest’s converged broadband network offers a fully redundant, self-healing voice and data platform. This high-level of reliability will help ensure Blue Plans can access and share critical information real-time with customers and providers. The contract also includes local, long-distance and international voice service, and audio and Web conferencing.
