WHAT: Suns guard Leandro Barbosa will deliver $5,000 in new sports equipment to two Arizona high school varsity basketball programs as part of the Qwest Communications “Team Assist” program on Monday, February 8. The delivery will begin at Copper Canyon High School in Glendale at 3 p.m.
Barbosa will be joined by Jim Campbell, Qwest Arizona president and The Gorilla to present the boys and girls varsity basketball programs at Copper Canyon High School. The group will then travel to Willow Canyon High School in Surprise, with the presentation beginning at 4 p.m.
Both varsity high school basketball programs will receive the new equipment, including reversible jerseys, travel duffle bags and suits, shooting shirts, basketballs and training equipment. In addition, the programs will receive tickets to watch the Suns take on the New York Knicks at US Airways Center on Friday, March 26.

INFO: The Phoenix Suns encouraged Arizona high schools to participate in the Qwest Communications “Team Assist” in November. Varsity student-athletes were asked to fill out an entry form explaining why their school’s basketball program deserved new equipment. Each school was selected based on the content of their proposal.
