PHOENIX, November 18, 2009 - The Phoenix Suns and Qwest Communications have partnered to launch “Team Assist,” a new community outreach initiative designed to provide new basketball equipment to two Arizona high school varsity basketball programs.

High school varsity basketball players throughout Arizona are encouraged to log on to www.suns.com/assist to fill out an entry form, explaining why their school’s basketball program is in need of new equipment.  Entry forms must be submitted by Sunday, November 29.

Two programs will then be selected as recipients of a $5,000 donation, courtesy of Qwest Communications, to be utilized for the equipment outlined in their proposals. The donation will be distributed evenly between the boys and girls programs at each high school.

“Qwest is proud to continue its long standing commitment to giving back to the communities in which our customers and employees work and live,” said Jim Campbell, Qwest President for Arizona.  “In times like this, schools are stretching every dollar as far as it will go.  This program, which Qwest has undertaken with the Suns, is just another example of Qwest’s passion for growing our work force in Arizona from within the education system right here at home.”

In addition to the $5,000 donation, the Suns will host both high school basketball programs when the Suns take on the Utah Jazz on Friday, March 19 at US Airways Center.
