DENVER, Jan. 7, 2008 – Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced it signed a 2-year agreement with The Spring Air Company, one of the world’s largest bedding manufacturers. Headquartered in Chicago, Spring Air will use Qwest’s advanced networking technology to better link the company’s manufacturing facilities.
Spring Air services its leading retail clients from 12 manufacturing sites located in Tampa, Fla.; New Brunswick, N.J.; Columbus, Ohio; Los Angeles; Dallas; Salt Lake City; Lacey, Wash.; Phoenix; Denver; St. Louis; Boston; and Atlanta. Under the terms of the contract, Qwest will connect these locations using Qwest iQ Networking® services, a wide area network (WAN) solution based on Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, and be Spring Air’s primary e-mail and data network provider.
Qwest iQ Networking services will provide the technology backbone to support the company’s enterprise resource planning efforts (ERP), which ensure that each mattress is produced according to the right specifications. “Qwest’s team approach was one of the leading reasons for the decision,” said Paul Davis, Vice President, Information Technology of Spring Air. "They didn’t sell us a product; they sold us a solution – one that is scalable and flexible – allowing for our future growth."
"We work hard to provide value as a service provider and long-term strategic collaborator,” said Tom Richards, executive vice president, Qwest Business Markets Group. “In the case of Spring Air, we feel confident that our iQ Networking solution is designed to give the company the reach, connectivity and flexibility to support both its current needs and anticipated future demand.”
With Qwest iQ Networking, customers benefit from simplified networks that leverage their existing technologies.
