LAS VEGAS (National Association of Broadcasters NAB) – April 24, 2006 – SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a leading global provider of managed and outsourced IT services, announced today it has been contracted by the CBS Television Network to deploy a digital media archiving and retrieval system supporting the legacy CBS television content archives and its ever growing library of new assets. The project includes implementing a digital archive, retrieval, and distribution system for the CBS television entertainment library that will allow CBS to search, manage, store and repurpose assets.

SAVVIS will manage the installation and integration of the solution including administrative oversight and identifying the working partners and products necessary to fulfill their needs. As part of this, SAVVIS has engaged Harris Corporation and Front Porch Digital, Inc., to form a focused, tightly knit team in a model that further reduces costs, risks, and complex management associated with the implementation of this project. In addition, HP, Pinnacle Systems, and StorageTek support the solution with hardware and additional services.

NAB attendees can see the CBS solution demonstrated, and meet with executives, at the Harris booth located on the upper level of the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, # SU2929.

“Our goal is to build a very flexible and scalable architecture that can rapidly adapt to new emerging technologies, formats, and business requirements in years to come, said Julie Kapsch, Vice President of Strategic Services for CBS IT. “At the same time our vision is to ensure that the capabilities we are building can be efficiently leveraged by other CBS divisions and potentially business partners.”

“CBS’ digital asset management solution is critical for preserving our most valuable assets and opening up the door to repurpose CBS content created over the past 50 years,” said Barry Zegel, VP West Coast Technical and Production Operations and Engineering for CBS. “By combining SAVVIS’ IT infrastructure and expertise with Harris’ intelligent management technologies, and Front Porch’s advanced media asset archive product, we think that this solution will be able to support CBS’ existing and proposed project requirements.”

The objective of the solution is to ensure that valuable assets are preserved and leveraged while improving operational efficiency. CBS also needs to plan for future growth requirements that are emerging as a result of digital media opportunities. Currently, the CBS entertainment television archive includes approximately 250,000 reels of content and this is expected to grow significantly over the next five years.

Like all major content companies, CBS is faced with the daunting task of monetizing the enormous volumes of existing and new television content with an eye on new revenue streams, such as Video on Demand (VOD). The solution will achieve this by increasing media handling capacity to address new business opportunities, streamlining media distribution processes, improving the value of media assets by increasing re-use capability, and improving processes and systems for asset preservation. All of this will be engineered using new media asset management and transcoding technologies, and infrastructure that improves performance and efficiencies while reducing costs.

SAVVIS is overseeing the solution design, and provides the application systems and global private network for asset distribution and fulfillment on a global scale. Harris Invenio Systems is providing control of ingest systems, archival middleware, and end-user applications that enable a desktop workflow for indexing, archival management and distribution of content. Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive will control all archive management for the CBS TV City installation in Los Angeles. DIVA is a software middleware that enables interoperability between large digital media storage devices, video servers, editing systems and digital media workflow applications, including its proven integration with the Sun StorageTek SL 8500.
