St. Louis, MO – August 31, 2006 – Further solidifying its position as a global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, SAVVIS today announced that industry analyst firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned SAVVIS in the “Leaders” quadrant in the North American Web Hosting Magic Quadrant, published August 25, 2006, and authored by Gartner analysts Ted Chamberlin and Lydia Leong.
According to Gartner, vendors listed in the “Leaders” quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
The Gartner Magic Quadrant is widely recognized as one of the most influential benchmarks for enterprises seeking to evaluate hosting services. It evaluates vendors according to financial health and completeness of vision – including product line breadth and functionality, successful implementations, and the ability to meet customer requirements now and in the future – as well as the ability to execute, which includes service and support, among other criteria.
SAVVIS’ position in the North American Magic Quadrant comes on the heels of Gartner’s positioning the company in the “Leaders” quadrant in the Pan European Web Hosting Providers Magic Quadrant, published May 30, 2006. Both of these important new research reports can be accessed from SAVVIS' web site: /corp/Products+Services/Hosting/.
“We are pleased to announce our position in both the North American and Pan European Web Hosting Providers Magic Quadrants as we feel it reflects the quality of service we deliver to our customers,” said Phil Koen, Chief Executive Officer of SAVVIS. “We are not resting on these laurels. We will continue to improve our customers’ IT experience and focus on systems and technology innovation as we advance our hosting services delivery platform.”
SAVVIS continues to advance its hosting services delivery platform and operational support systems to deliver enterprise hosting throughout North America, Europe and Asia. SAVVIS currently operates 25 data centers globally encompassing more than 1.4 million square feet of high-quality space designed to support business and governmental IT operations.
SAVVIS offers customers a variety of flexible and cost-effective hosting models that can easily be mixed and interchanged to meet the specific needs of an enterprise. Those models range from unmanaged co-location services all the way to fully managed, virtualized utility services that provide maximum performance and cost-savings benefits, while requiring only a fraction of the conventional data center floor space typically needed. SAVVIS solutions enable clients to improve the performance and security of their IT systems, lower the cost of their IT operations and become more agile by scaling their IT infrastructure up or down as business needs change.
Market demand for hosting services continues to expand. Gartner forecasts that the North American Web hosting market will grow from $8.8 billion in 2005 to $12.9 billion in 2010. This according to Market Focus: Web Hosting and Edge Hosting, North America, 2006, published June 23, 2006, and authored by Gartner analyst Lydia Leong.
