DENVER, August 10, 2006 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced a series of seminars that offer business customers best-in-class disaster recovery and risk-management practices. The Risk Management and Disaster Recovery seminar will focus on information technology themes for 2006 related to data management techniques, risk assessment, recovery challenges and best practices and strategies for operational recovery.
Studies have shown that almost one-third of companies world-wide have no formal plans protecting them against natural and manmade disasters, and even if a company has a disaster recovery plan in place, it is often out-of-date and not tested regularly. During the seminars, Qwest explores top issues facing customers and helps them evaluate their preparedness in the event of an operational disruption.
"We're in an area where risk management and disaster recovery are essential to keep business up and running seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day," said Dusty Williams, chief information officer for Outback Steakhouse, headquartered in the Tampa Bay area with 1,200 locations in all 50 states. "Qwest helped us identify an easy-to-manage restoration and disaster recovery plan, and walked us through our strategies and processes for quick operational recovery in the instance of an emergency."
