SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 11, 2008 – Qwest today announced a donation to Guadalupe Schools based on a season-long partnership with the Pacific Coast League Salt Lake Bees AAA baseball team.

"The Guadalupe Schools work so hard to make a positive impact on their students and families and Qwest recognizes that,” said Jerry Fenn, Qwest Utah president. “It was a great experience to team with the Salt Lake Bees to benefit the Guadalupe Schools.”

Qwest donated $50 to Guadalupe Schools for every home run the Bees hit during their regular season. As the Bees swung their way toward the Pacific North division championship, they hit 168 home runs. Qwest popped up the donation to $10,000.

“This was a great program for the Salt Lake Bees,” said Marc Amicone, Salt Lake Bees vice president and general manager. “In baseball, hitting a home run means you automatically score. And this season, our partnership with Qwest helped score for Guadalupe Schools.”

The Guadalupe Schools provide children who are socially, economically and educationally disadvantaged, a continuum of educational services from birth through grade three. Programs include in-home services for parents and children to provide the skills and education needed to live productive, rewarding lives.

“Guadalupe Schools is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Qwest and the Salt Lake Bees,” said Vicki Mori, Guadalupe Schools executive director. “We could not provide the services we offer or achieve such success without community partnerships. Qwest and the Bees absolutely knocked a home run for the students of Guadalupe Schools!”
