DENVER, Dec. 16, 2008 — In time for the holidays, customers of Qwest’s fastest Internet service powered by fiber-optic technology, Qwest Connect® Quantum, will now see a 40 percent price reduction. Qwest Communications (NYSE: Q) has lowered the price of the service, and will implement this new pricing immediately.

Qualifying residential customers can now receive connection speeds up to 20 Mbps – allowing a customer to download a 2-hour movie in as little as 6 minutes or 30 songs in as little as one minute – starting at $59.99 a month, reduced from $99.99 a month. The new pricing for Qwest Connect Quantum is available to new customers, and customers who currently subscribe to the service will see an automatic reduction in their monthly statements.

“The value of reliable high-speed Internet that connects people to what’s important in their lives is fast becoming a priority – even more so in challenging economic times,” said Dan Yost, executive vice president of Mass Markets at Qwest.

Qwest delivers a wide variety of high-speed Internet services that customers can select based on speed and value. For customers seeking value, Qwest Connect Silver offers exceptional performance (connection speeds up to 1.5 Mbps) and currently starts at $14.99 a month.

Qwest Connect® Titanium and Qwest Connect Quantum -- delivering connection speeds up to 12 Mbps and 20 Mbps, respectively – offer customers advanced technology and superior connection speeds.

Qwest’s fiber-optic-driven Internet network expansion is on target to reach 1.8 million potential residential and small-business customers within Qwest’s residential service region by the end of this year. Qwest recently indicated that its build-out will continue through 2009 at a similar pace.

Customers can find out if they qualify for Qwest Fiber-Optic Fast Internet services by visiting, or they can visit Qwest’s online community at to view current local deployments.

Fiber-Optic Fast Internet is available only in select areas. Connection speeds are based on sync rates. Download speeds will be up to 15 percent lower due to network overhead requirements and may vary for reasons such as customer location, Web sites accessed, Internet congestion and customer equipment.
