DENVER, Nov. 15, 2007 – Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) has received Authorization to Operate (ATO) from the General Services Administration (GSA) and may begin accepting orders on the Networx Enterprise contract -- part of the government-wide program to serve the communications needs of federal agencies for the next 10 years. Combined with the larger Universal contract, the Networx program has a total value of up to $68 billion.

In September, Qwest was the first Networx awardee to undergo Operational Support Systems (OSS) verification testing for the Enterprise contract. The GSA requires contract winners to successfully complete the extensive testing, including analysis of its customer-facing portal and a thorough security review, before it is authorized to operate under the contract. Qwest finished all of the required testing in record time.
“Qwest worked closely with GSA during OSS verification testing and is pleased to receive Authorization to Operate to provide federal agencies with the 34 total services it is offering under the Enterprise contract,” said Diana Gowen, senior vice president and general manager of Qwest Government Services. “Qwest is now one of only three carriers authorized to accept task orders from all federal agencies on both the Networx Universal and Enterprise contracts.”
Earlier this year Qwest expanded its state-of-the-art network operations center (NOC) in Arlington, Va., for the new services it provides to federal customers. Currently, Qwest serves more than 50 federal civilian, defense and intelligence agencies under a variety of contracts including Networx.
