DENVER, March 21, 2007 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE:Q) today announced Nicholas Sweers has been named vice president, corporate communications, effective March 19. Sweers is based in Denver and reports directly to Laura Sankey, Qwest's executive vice president of marketing and communications.

"Nick's experience and industry understanding are tremendous assets to Qwest," Sankey said. "With Nick's guidance, Qwest's external and internal communications will continue to advance the Spirit of Service with key target audiences inside and outside of the company."

Sweers joined Qwest's corporate communications team in June 2006 as director of corporate communications. In his role as vice president of corporate communications, Sweers will oversee Qwest's external media relations and financial media communications; internal communications; executive speech placement; state, regulatory and policy communications; and industry analyst relations.

Nick came to Qwest from Sprint Nextel, where he held a variety of positions, most recently as director of national media relations and financial communications. Earlier in his career, Nick worked in marketing communications and as an award-winning editor with several newspapers.

Sweers received bachelor of arts degrees in journalism and history from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.
