Denver, April 5, 2007 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) recently launched a new advertising campaign intended specifically for Hispanic audiences. The campaign uses two Spanish-language television ads to demonstrate the customer benefits of Qwest's high-quality residential services. One of the new TV spots focuses on the benefits of Qwest High-Speed InternetTM service; the other highlights the convenience and value that customers receive when they bundle their services with Qwest.
"Qwest is committed to serving the Hispanic community with products, services and promotions that speak to their needs and are designed especially for Hispanic customers," said Hector Placencia, director of multicultural marketing at Qwest. "In Qwest's latest Spanish-language campaign, we incorporate nuances in the language that simply don't translate to English; these ads were specifically created and tailored for the Spanish-preferred and bilingual audiences."
The ad that features high-speed Internet features a comical situation to describe how quickly customers can upload and download files with Qwest High-Speed Internet service. The spot uses Spanish phrases that can have different meanings depending on the context of their usage and humorously shows how these double meanings can lead to misunderstanding.
The second ad focuses on the value of Qwest's bundle of communications and entertainment services. For only $98 per month, customers can get Qwest Digital Voice (local phone and long-distance service), Qwest High-Speed Internet service and DIRECTV service. The commercial also highlights a promotion that offers new DIRECTV customers a free Digital Video Recorder (DVR) upgrade.
Qwest regularly uses employees, customers and members of the community to star in its commercials in order to emphasize Qwest's commitment to the areas it serves. Throughout the company's local-service region, Qwest provides the Espíritu de Servicio (Spirit of Service) to Hispanic customers. Qwest has created several products tailored to the Hispanic market, such as Qwest(R) Plan Latino, a long-distance calling plan with reduced rates to Mexico and Latin American countries.
The Qwest High-Speed Internet and bundle ads will air on Univision, Telemundo, Telefutura and TV Azteca. In addition, a number of correlating print and radio ads will be used to reach Latino audiences in Phoenix; Tucson and Yuma, Ariz.; Denver; Albuquerque, N.M.; Minneapolis; Salt Lake City; Portland, Ore; and Seattle.
Qwest offers a unique and powerful combination of voice and data solutions for businesses, government agencies and consumers - locally and throughout the country.
