Denver, September 13, 2006 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE:Q) today announced that it added Qwest IP Voice 8xx Origination and Qwest Wholesale Hosted VoIP service to its suite of solutions for wholesale VoIP customers. The new services enable wholesale VoIP customers to quickly deploy next-generation voice applications for their end-user customers while leveraging Qwest's national IP-based network.
Both Qwest IP Voice 8xx Origination and Qwest Wholesale Hosted VoIP leverage the extensive years of experience Qwest has in delivering VoIP solutions for retail business, government and residential customers and use Qwest's state-of-the-art digital network. Wholesale customers will recognize the value in enhancing their end users' real-time communications via advanced VoIP technologies to make them more competitive, increase efficiency, reduce costs and save time.
Qwest's full suite for wholesale VoIP customers now includes the following:
- Qwest Wholesale Hosted VoIP, also called "VoIP in a Box," provides wholesale customers with a fully outsourced solution for consumers and enterprises. Qwest Hosted VoIP supports the wholesale customer's ability to provide end-users with telephone numbers, robust calling features, local and long-distance services. This is the solution that provides easy entry into the VoIP marketplace for traditional resellers, carriers and even cable companies, with no required network investment.
- With Qwest IP Voice 8xx Origination, toll-free calls originated on the public switched network are translated to IP format and delivered to wholesale customers at a location of their choosing. Qwest can originate and format different types of calls such as traditional phone, toll-free calls and IP-based calls all on its state-of-the-art network.
- In October 2004, Qwest began delivering IP Voice Termination services, which allow wholesale customers to hand over IP voice traffic directly to Qwest. Qwest translates this traffic to TDM format, transports it across its OC-192 network and terminates the calls to the public switched network.
"Both VoIP products enhance Qwest's wholesale VoIP portfolio, giving customers a one-stop shop for all their VoIP needs," said Derek Koecher, director, wholesale for Qwest. "Qwest carries more than four billion VoIP minutes a month on its network, which gives us the experience and knowledge we need to provide superior customer service."
