SALT LAKE CITY, March 27, 2007 - An agreement announced today by the developers of The Ledges of St. George and Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q), makes The Ledges development the first community in southern Utah to be connected via fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology.

Through Qwest FTTH service, homeowners in the master-planned community in St. George will have Qwest High-Speed Internet service - up to 10 megabits per second. Homeowners will also have the option to choose a Qwest service bundle, including digital voice; DIRECTV service with access to more than 250 television channels in 100 percent digital-quality picture and sound, HDTV programming and digital video recorders; and Qwest wireless service all conveniently integrated on one bill.

In addition, during the home-buying process, trained sales professionals will promote Qwest's comprehensive, money-saving bundles of communications and entertainment services.

"This deployment is another example of Qwest's strategy to identify projects that will enable us to deploy fiber-to-the-home in an economically sensible manner," said Jerry Fenn, Qwest president for Utah. "It's exciting to deliver The Ledges residents the most advanced communications services available today."

Qwest FTTH connections in The Ledges will allow families to simultaneously run today's most bandwidth-intensive applications - such as Internet access to music and video downloading, online gaming, and streaming video - and assures customers their broadband connection will support tomorrow's applications with ease.

"We exhaustively evaluated all of our options in providing our homeowners with the optimum level in telecommunications and data transfer services," said Hans Kuhni, managing partner for The Ledges of St. George. "After weighing our options, Qwest was clearly far superior in their ability to not only offer single-point contact for our homeowners, but also in their commitment to both servicing existing infrastructure, and in upgrading the system when the need arises."

Unlike some other technologies, the Qwest connection speed is not diminished during peak usage times. The Ledges residents will simply plug their computer into a data jack built into the home, and they are ready to enjoy dedicated high-speed Internet access.

The applications for homeowners, schools and businesses at The Ledges are endless and include distance-learning, video conferencing and telecommuting. Qwest FTTH also levels the technology playing field for home-based businesses and may help reduce energy consumption and traffic congestion.
