Qwest Communications Launches Wireless Services In Lincoln, Omaha, Council Bluffs And Fremont

LINCOLN, Neb., February 27, 2001 ? Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE:Q), the broadband Internet communications company, today announced the launch of its all-digital wireless voice and data service in Lincoln, Omaha, Council Bluffs and Fremont. Qwest wireless currently has more than 800,000 customers, and with the addition of Nebraska and Council Bluffs, will serve a total of 12 western and mid-western states.

Qwest wireless offers both voice and data functionality including voice messaging, voice and Internet browsing, and email and information streaming services previously accessible only by office or home PC. ?Qwest Voice Browsing not only lets customers talk to the Internet, it lets the Internet talk back using a wireless phone,? said Peter Mannetti, president of Qwest wireless. ?You don?t even need a computer. You simply ask for the information you want and Voice Browsing will deliver it to your wireless handset within seconds.?

Simplified Wireless Data Access ?

*Qwest's first-in-the-nation "talking Internet" service Voice Browsing provides business locator services and personalized, up-to-date news, sports, traffic, airline, stock quotes and weather information to businesses and consumers. Qwest Voice Browsing customers dial *www (*999).

*Qwest?s enhanced BrowseNowâ service makes it easy to access the Internet from a wireless phone. BrowseNow customers can have a single email address for both their computer and their wireless phone.

*Qwest?s MessagePaksm sends word messages, numeric messages and a personalized selection of Internet news and information directly to a Qwest wireless phone.

*Qwest?s Dial-Up Access enables customers to link their PC, Palm Pilot or other personal digital assistant (PDA) to their wireless phone. Customers can connect to their company Intranet, office or personal Internet service provider (ISP), or use their phone for fax connections whenever and wherever they want.

Unique Home Calling Areas ? Beginning immediately, Qwest wireless customers can call from their Home Coverage area to any location in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota toll free. Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska Qwest wireless customers will enjoy a home calling area that provides toll-free calling to any point in those states from within a Qwest wireless service area.

Qwest wireless? network is based on an open, multi-vendor architecture that costs less to deploy than single-vendor systems and enables the company to quickly expand its portfolio of Internet-based services. The network was built in partnership with Alcatel, Ericsson, Nortel Networks, and Tekelec.

Qwest wireless is now available in Lincoln, Omaha, Council Bluffs and Fremont. Qwest wireless offers a variety of price plans that allow customers to tailor the service to meet their individual needs. Plan highlights include:

*Business 500 ? a $39.99 monthly rate includes 500 local weekday minutes, 1,000 local weekend minutes and long distance at no additional charge for all calls placed within the home calling area.

*Winter 500 ? a $39.99 plan for residential customers that includes 500 local weekday minutes, 1,000 local weekend minutes and long distance at no additional charge for all calls placed within the home calling area.

*Voice Browsing ? for only $4.95 per month (plus minutes of use from monthly plan), customers can ask for and listen to information they need, such as stock quotes, weather, sports, and news.
