Denver, April 3, 2001 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q), the broadband Internet communications company, today announced that it is the first company to achieve SunTone Certification for Integrator Services for its implementation and architecture engineering services. Today, Qwest also announced that its basic infrastructure for web hosting offering has also achieved SunTone Service Provider Certification, giving Qwest a robust list of merits for its hosting solutions.
In June 2000, Qwest's Platform Hosting Solutions became the first in a line of Qwest web hosting offerings awarded the SunTone seal of approval. Today, Qwest is on an aggressive track to SunTone certify its entire suite of hosting services, creating the industry's first end-to-end certified portfolio for web hosting. Among those services undergoing the certification process are Qwest's enhanced and premium services, as well as its management design integration for custom services.
During the SunTone certification process, Qwest's CyberCenters(sm), network infrastructure, platforms, applications, service best practices, policies, security and operations were examined to help ensure the highest levels of service readiness, competency and capacity. As a result, all web hosting customers can be confident that Qwest has the ability to provide a complete line of best-in-class solutions.
"Having the SunTone certified seal of approval lends an incredible amount of credibility to our offerings, and differentiates Qwest in the hosting arena," said Rick Weston, senior vice president, Qwest Internet Solutions. "Businesses need assurance that their web hosting partner is qualified and reliable, and SunTone provides that comfort. We're moving quickly to SunTone certify our entire array of hosting solutions."
Through its 15 national CyberCenters, Qwest provides a full range of web hosting and managed services for customers' Internet-based applications. Through aggressive service level agreements (SLAs), Qwest provides guaranteed network availability on its all-optical, OC-192c Internet protocol (IP) fiber network. Customers can chose from a range of web hosting offerings that meet their distinct e-business needs, from basic e-commerce site to enterprise-level custom designs.

It is vital for integrators to establish the reliability of their services to distinguish themselves in this competitive market," said Tim Dwyer, vice president of marketing sales development for Sun's Network Services Provider group.
