Qwest Communications Announces Support For Microsoft Exchange 2000

Microsoft TechEd 2000, Orlando, June 6, 2000 — Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q), the broadband Internet communications company, today announced it is one of the first providers to offer Microsoft Exchange 2000 as a hosted platform to select customers. Qwest combines the enhanced features of the Exchange 2000 platform with world-class hosting capabilities to offer customers a cost-effective, highly efficient service for messaging and collaboration.

Exchange 2000 gives Qwest the ability to offer significant additions to our current Managed Exchange Services offering based on Exchange 5.5, including unified messaging, instant messaging, and enhanced collaboration capabilities. Qwest Managed Exchange Services currently enables companies of all sizes to easily and cost effectively deliver Microsoft Exchange e-mail and advanced messaging applications throughout their organization. The services include hosting in Qwest's state-of the-art CyberCenters, monitoring and maintenance by Microsoft certified staff, server software and hardware and are available for a monthly fee starting at $15 per mailbox.

"Moving to Exchange 2000 will provide our customers with many collaboration and performance enhancements, " said Rick Weston, senior vice president of Qwest Internet solutions. "Leveraging our Exchange 2000 platform, our customers can develop rich, web-based solutions that will dramatically change the way they build and use collaborative applications."

"Qwest continues to be at the leading edge of the ASP industry by committing to Exchange 2000 as a platform for hosted messaging and collaboration solutions," said Kevin Breunig, group product manager at Microsoft. "Qwest's experience as an ASP combined with Exchange 2000 will provide customers with a reliable, scalable hosted messaging and collaboration infrastructure."

As a special trial offer, customers with less than 1,000 users who sign up for Qwest's Managed Exchange Services 2000 initial program offer are provided the service at no charge. Migration to the next release will also be free, but carry a monthly usage fee.

Qwest's Business Partner Program (QBPP), which has assisted more than 400 companies in transitioning their business model to a services-based environment, will serve as the sales resource for Microsoft Certified Solution Providers (MCSPs) seeking to provide Qwest's Managed Exchange Services 2000 offering as a hosted platform to their customers.
