Qwest Communications and Siebel Systems to deliver software solutions for small and mid-sized businesses

May 18, 1999 ? Qwest Communications International Inc. (Nasdaq: QWST), a leading Internet communications company, and Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL), the world?s leading supplier of Web-based front office software systems, today announced a strategic relationship. Targeting small to mid-sized businesses, Qwest will distribute Siebel's Sales for Workgroups software and provide comprehensive application hosting services for Siebel Systems' applications.

This announcement is part of a larger strategic effort that establishes Qwest as the industry's first facilities-based Application Service Provider (ASP), delivering Internet-based applications and services to businesses around the world.

This strategic relationship gives businesses:

  • A comprehensive, facilities-based Application Service Provider (ASP) that combines Qwest's network, Siebel Systems' front office software, SAP America's high-end ERP software and Hewlett-Packard Company's state-of-the-art server platform and services;
  • Round-the-clock Internet access to Siebel Enterprise Applications over Qwest's reliable, high-speed, scalable and secure network;
  • Real-time help desk, customer service and technical support for Siebel System's front office applications;
  • Complete, out-of-the-box integration between Siebel System's front office software with SAP R/3

According to Forrester Research, front office software ? computer programs that manage every aspect of the customer acquisition and support process ? represents the fastest-growing segment of the enterprise applications marketplace.

Under the terms of the agreement, Qwest will provide application hosting and help desk support for Siebel Sales for Workgroups, allowing small to mid-sized organizations to seamlessly unite sales professionals in a team-selling environment. By partnering with leading Siebel Systems? third-party systems integration partners, Qwest will offer turnkey Siebel solutions to their customers. Additionally, Qwest will employ its state-of-the-art network infrastructure and application hosting CyberCenterssm to offer for the entire family of Siebel Enterprise Applications.
