North Logan, Utah, August 8, 2006 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced the grand opening of a customer sales and service center in North Logan, Utah. Qwest currently employs nearly 500 people working in the new sales and service center and is on track to reach nearly 600 by the end of the year.

"The workforce in northern Utah has proven to be exactly as dedicated, enthusiastic and technologically savvy as we anticipated," said Jerry Fenn, Qwest president for Utah. "Thanks to economic-development incentives and our partnership with the state, we have been able to make Qwest one of the largest employers in the Cache Valley."

The new sales and service center is part of Qwest?s Spirit of ServiceTM initiative to effectively meet customer demand in the competitive marketplace, and provide a consistently high-quality customer service experience. The North Logan location will handle calls from Qwest customers throughout the company?s 14-state local service region. In addition, employees in the center will focus on delivering complete and personalized service to Qwest customers.

Training for sales and service associates began in mid-April. New employees go through a 12-week associate training program. Many of the positions at this Qwest location are represented by the Communications Workers of America and include a benefits package.
