Denver ? March 25, 1999 ? Qwest Communications International Inc. today announced it has been awarded a three-year, multimillion-dollar communications contract from Delta Air Lines. Under the agreement, Qwest will initially deploy ATM and frame relay connectivity among 27 of Delta's airport locations throughout the United States.

Qwest's ATM and frame relay solutions will provide Delta with a high performance, low-cost data communications network to help support automated services, such as passenger check-in and boarding, credit card verification, baggage management and communications integration. Delta also receives a scalable, customized and highly reliable service to meet the individual requirements of each airport location.

"We are pleased that Delta ? one of the most recognized names in the airline industry ? has selected us as one of their providers of critical information networking solutions," said Stephen M. Jacobsen, Qwest executive vice president of business markets. "Qwest's data communications services incorporate the latest advances in networking technology and can help companies, such as Delta, easily deploy high-end communications solutions that will streamline their day-to-day business operations."

"The advanced capabilities of Qwest's fiber optic network offered us a compelling choice for our mission-critical ATM and frame relay services," said Barry Lloyd, director of network engineering for Delta Technology. "Travelers expect a pleasant and hassle-free flying experience, and a sophisticated data communications network is an important tool for the delivery of fast, responsive and friendly customer care."
