Denver, December 4, 2006 - Qwest (NYSE: Q) today announced that it is working with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on its annual "NORAD Tracks Santa" program.

For more than fifty years, NORAD has used radar, satellites, Santa cams and jet fighter aircraft to monitor Santa's annual trip around the world. This year, Qwest is maximizing NORAD's capability to communicate Santa's trek around the world to thousands of boys and girls.

"Qwest's products and services are trusted by many U.S. federal government agencies for mission-critical applications - from the Department of Treasury to the Department of Defense," said Diana Gowen, senior vice president, Qwest Government Services, Inc. "Qwest has teamed up with NORAD to ensure that the necessary telephone lines are available for children around the world to receive up-to-the-minute updates on Santa's travels."

There are several ways to track Santa with NORAD. Families can go to for a link to the NORAD Tracks Santa Web site, or they can go to for a fun Santa countdown. The site includes real-time Santa tracking on Dec. 24. Finally, phone lines will be open starting Dec. 24, at 2 a.m., through 2 a.m. on Dec. 25, for children to speak directly to a NORAD Santa Tracker when they call 1-877-Hi-NORAD.

"Each year, the 'NORAD Tracks Santa' Santa Trackers, located at the 'NORAD Tracks Santa' Operations Center at Peterson AFB, Colorado, receive tens of thousands of telephone calls all within a 24-hour period", said Major Stacia Reddish, NORAD Tracks Santa Project Officer. "It's important our telecommunications partners can accommodate the enormous communications demands. We're confident Qwest's services will give us the right resources to respond to the tens of thousands of calls we expect during this huge event."

Using Qwest High-Speed InternetTM service families can take advantage of the real-time Santa tracking, games and downloads available at the NORAD Tracks Santa Web site. They can also send e-mails to NORAD at or directly to Santa at
