(NASDAQ: SVVS), a leading global IT utility, today announced that Le Creuset of America, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer and distributor of enameled cast iron cookware, is using SAVVIS Network Services to connect their operations centers and stores nationwide. Under the terms of the agreement, SAVVIS will provide a persistent network that Le Creuset will use for both data applications and voice traffic.
SAVVIS’ network will power key applications, such as Le Creuset’s point-of-sale system, credit card transactions, inventory management, email and internet access. The network will also provide for real-time polling of the point-of-sale system, which allows Le Creuset to collect and process information more efficiently while improving the accessibility of sales performance data.
“We wanted to upgrade our POS systems, but couldn’t take advantage of the new system’s functionality using the dial-up network connections we had in our stores,” said Bruce Wallingford, IT Director of Le Creuset. “We were prepared for an increase in per store costs due to the new network solution, but by choosing SAVVIS we were actually able to save money on our overall telecommunications costs. Our SAVVIS network supports our new POS system and allows us to run both data and voice applications which lowered our overall costs by 30% compared to all the other alternatives we considered.”
With North American headquarters in South Carolina, Le Creuset currently owns and operates stores in the United States and throughout Europe.
