NEW YORK CITY (National Retail Federation Expo) – January 16, 2006 – SAVVIS Inc. (NASDAQ : SVVS), a leading global IT utility provider, today announced that Hard Rock International, the globally-recognized hotel, casino, restaurant and retail chain, has selected SAVVIS to provide a turnkey, wide area network services solution linking their 67 wholly-owned locations worldwide.
With a rapidly growing customer base, Hard Rock International identified increasing demands on network bandwidth and resiliency as primary drivers behind its search for a new high-performance, low-cost managed network solution to power key retail and corporate applications.
Under the terms of the contract, SAVVIS will deploy a fully-managed network solution for 67 Hard Rock Cafe restaurants around the globe, including 17 locations throughout Europe. SAVVIS will serve as the network backbone for providing retail and customer services such as credit card transactions and in-store video experience, along with supporting key centralized business applications. In addition, SAVVIS will provide managed security services and will serve as Hard Rock’s corporate-wide area network.
“When we visited SAVVIS global operations center in St. Louis, we saw firsthand how they are bringing innovative technology solutions to the retail marketplace,” said Kelly Maddern, Senior Director of IT, Hard Rock International. “We determined that by allowing SAVVIS to design a real-time IT infrastructure to meet our business needs, the result was going to be the scaleable, secure, homogeneous network that we required – and an added benefit was that it all came at a lower cost.”
“Like many of our customers, Hard Rock International is a brand leader whose name is synonymous with efficient service and a superior customer experience,” said Jack Finlayson, Acting CEO at SAVVIS. “Hard Rock understands the essential value of IT, but would rather not devote its time and resources to managing the network. SAVVIS solutions are enabling Hard Rock and hundreds of other leading retailers to reduce IT complexity and costs and focus their energies on the business at hand – namely revenue growth and outstanding customer service.”
