MONROE, La., Aug. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) today announced that it is in the top tier of SIP trunking providers in the 2015 IHS Infonetics SIP Trunking North American Service Provider Scorecard published by industry analyst firm Infonetics Research, now IHS (NYSE: IHS).
CenturyLink ranked second among the 10 SIP trunking service providers that IHS determined to have the greatest installed base of lines/trunks for IP connectivity. The providers were evaluated based on four criteria: financial stability, market strategy, service capabilities and support options.
"SIP trunking has become the de facto next generation voice connectivity solution for businesses in North America," said Diane Myers, research director for VoIP, UC and IMS at IHS. "CenturyLink's focus on a broad portfolio of unified communications and business VoIP services, including SIP trunking, enables the provider to support a wide spectrum of requirements for business customers."
In the scorecard, IHS states that CenturyLink scored highly as a result of investing significant resources into its overall business VoIP services portfolio over the past year. The report also recognized the strong growth of CenturyLink's installed base.
"CenturyLink strategically designed a complete portfolio of next-generation voice connectivity solutions to offer each business customer a VoIP service that meets its unique needs," said Ted Fitzgerald, manager, strategic voice products, CenturyLink. "Customers have the flexibility to choose premises-based SIP trunking, cloud-based VoIP or a hybrid model."
The CenturyLink IQ SIP Trunk product is an integrated service running over CenturyLink's IP network with multiple business continuity options offered in centralized and decentralized deployment options. The service is based on BroadSoft's application-oriented SIP trunking platform, which enables connectivity as well as a rich set of SIP trunking features. Advanced features, unified communications, conferencing and contact center services are available, and SIP trunking is offered as part of several of CenturyLink's business bundles.
