KINGSPORT, TN – CenturyLink is partnering with Fun Fest to provide wireless high-speed Internet at the popular festival’s events occurring in the Dobyns-Bennett High School and Memorial Park area. Fun Fest patrons and volunteers can access the Internet to do everything from surf the Net, blog, access FaceBook, Twitter, stream video and anything else they choose to do over the Internet. CenturyLink has made it possible for visitors to stay connected while enjoying the pleasantries of those Fun Fest events in that area. Fun Fest is held July 15-23 in Kingsport.

On July 20 and 21 from 5:30 – 9 pm patrons attending activities in the Memorial Park will be able to access the internet, learn how to set up social media accounts or check their accounts in media areas provided by Times Digital Group and Best Buy. Attendees will be able to post online in real time.

“In a fast-based digital world, everyone wants to stay connected regardless where they are,” said CenturyLink Vice President & General Manager Lottie Ryans. “Access to wireless high-speed Internet improves patrons experience considerably. This partnership is one of many innovative ways CenturyLink supports our communities in the Tri-Cities area”

Fun Fest Chairman Monty McLauirn spoke to the value of having high-speed Internet accessible during the festival. “We are very excited and appreciative of CenturyLink’s support of wireless high-speed Internet at Fun Fest this year,” McLaurin said. “CenturyLink’s Wireless high-speed Internet will allow us to post race results online immediately after the races at the Crazy 8’s race and interact in real time over the internet. Patrons can access the results at www.crazy8s.org.

Kingsport Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Jud Teague, and festival Director Lucy Fleming brainstormed with the CenturyLink team on possible festival solutions using broadband, including for vendors, patrons, staff and security.
