ST. LOUIS, MO — April 28, 2008 — SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ: SVVS), a global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, today announced that Avid Technology, Inc., a worldwide leader in tools for film, video, audio, 3D animation, gaming and broadcast professionals has selected SAVVIS to provide a turnkey, wide area network services solution linking more than 40 locations worldwide.
Avid has been a SAVVIS colocation hosting customer for more than five years and recently decided to enlist SAVVIS as its network services provider as well. The company selected SAVVIS as part of its objective to consolidate network providers and go with one overall provider that had global reach.
Avid is leveraging SAVVIS’ wide area network to provide connectivity and access to the company’s mission critical applications for employees in more than 40 offices in 15 countries. Future plans call for Avid to utilize SAVVIS’ Application Transport Network, a Tier 1 Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network serving approximately 20 percent of the world’s Internet routes, which further virtualizes and optimizes the delivery of enterprise applications.
“SAVVIS has an excellent service record as our colocation provider over the last five years. This factored heavily in our decision to use SAVVIS across our entire corporate network,” said Greg Munster, CIO & Vice President, Business Transformation for Avid Technology. “In addition, SAVVIS’ global footprint and the reduced costs associated with consolidating our network providers were significant factors in our selection process.”
“We are focused on enhancing our customers’ experience by moving them up the value chain from pure colocation hosting to higher value-added infrastructure solution sets involving both managed network and hosting services,” said James Whitemore, Chief Marketing Officer at SAVVIS. “Our strong customer service track record with Avid is a testament to how this process works successfully. As we continue to enhance enterprise application delivery over our network, we provide customers with access to the latest technologies and virtualization platforms so they can focus their energy on their core business at hand.”
