ST. LOUIS, MO — November 15, 2004 — SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ: SVVS), a leading global IT utility, today announced that ACTIV Financial Systems, a provider of low latency, exchange content and data management solutions, has adopted SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP NetworkSM service to provide customers with mission critical market data. SAVVIS’ network will provide multicast distribution of ACTIV’s leading products, including the ActivFeed and the ActivWorkstation Platform.
In an industry struggling to handle the increasing message rates generated by the market activity across an increasingly diverse set of trading venues, ACTIV Financial provides its customers with the fastest, most reliable delivery of real-time market data from global exchanges, complemented by directly-sourced corporate actions and fundamental data aggregated from respected industry sources. SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP Network and multicast service provides ACTIV’s customer with the cost advantage of a virtual private network (VPN), the security and performance of a global private IT system, and fully-integrated multicast technology that replicates real-time data streams based on the unique data requirements of ACTIV subscribers.
Under terms of the contract, ACTIV Financial deployed SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP Network service to support the following products: ActivDF (“Direct Feed”), a data management infrastructure enabling customers to consolidate and publish proprietary data and direct feeds sourced from SAVVIS network connections to major financial exchanges; ActivFeed, the company’s full North American multi-cast Market Data Feed delivering options, equities, and futures data and related content; and connectivity to ActivWorkstation, a trader’s workstation interface with charting, and other real-time analytics. The SAVVIS Intelligent IP Network supports all of ACTIV’s ground-breaking technologies: high performance middleware and fully integrated RDBMS component applications providing customers the tools to build ultra low latency publishing systems that reduce dependency on legacy and or proprietary distribution and display platforms.
“Until recently, multicast was only available through a few limited providers or using the public Internet , which could not consistently deliver the reliability, performance, and security required by our mission-critical applications,” said Frank Piasecki, President, ACTIV Financial Systems. “SAVVIS has changed the game by offering a private multicast service over its proven high-availability global network. It is an ideal delivery platform for the exchange data sources required by our ActivDF customers and ActivFeed subscribers. SAVVIS offers an end-to-end solution that manages routing, firewall protection and the fully-meshed connectivity that our customers demand.”
The Intelligent IP Network Service is a key component of SAVVIS’ global infrastructure that delivers a host of services to over 4,700 financial institutions in 47 countries, among them the collection and distribution of real-time market data - both direct and consolidated feeds - which drive various ACTIV products.
“Providing traders and financial institutions with real-time market data demands a complete commitment to technological innovation — and ACTIV epitomizes that approach,” said Jack Finlayson, President & COO, SAVVIS Communications. “We’re pleased that ACTIV has matched their applications and content management services with the advanced efficiency and security of our Intelligent IP Network Service.”
