Wyoming Teachers Make The Grade With $25,000 Grant From Qwest Foundation And Wyoming Department Of Education

CHEYENNE, Wyo., Jan. 9, 2008 - The Qwest Foundation and the Wyoming Department of Education today announced the next chapter in the Qwest Teachers and Technology program. For the second consecutive year, the program will award $25,000 in grants to Wyoming teachers who improve education for their students by incorporating innovative, technology-related classroom projects into their studies.  

"Technology enables students to learn in exciting new ways, and helps lay the groundwork for future success—both in school and beyond," said Michael Ceballos, Qwest president of Wyoming. "The Qwest Teachers and Technology grant program supports educators who encourage their students to achieve ever loftier academic goals through the use of technology in the classroom."
“Qwest is a solid supporter of programs that advance education in Wyoming, and we are pleased to partner with them again this year to offer our state’s educators the funds they need for classroom technology,” Wyoming State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Jim McBride said. “Limitless possibilities exist for students who understand today’s technology and embrace its potential, and these grants will help ensure Wyoming students’ success—now and in the future.”
The Qwest Teachers and Technology grants will be awarded to teachers through a competitive process administered by the Wyoming Department of Education. The top three technology-related projects will received the following award amounts:
1st place: $12,000
2nd place: $8,000
3rd place: $5,000
The grant application deadline is Feb. 1, 2008; educators may download instructions and applications at The funds may be used to purchase supplies or to support professional development needs; however, funds may not be used to pay salaries or stipends.
