DENVER, Sept. 11, 2008 — Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) has been recognized for its workforce diversity initiatives and Hispanic philanthropic efforts by three of the nation’s leading Hispanic publications: Hispanic Business, Latin Business and Latina Style.

The September issue of Hispanic Business magazine features Qwest on its ‘DIVERSITY ELITE 60’, an annual listing of companies that measure an organization’s commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity. Companies on the list were not only recognized for workforce diversity initiatives, but for outreach to Hispanic consumers and increasing activities with minority-and Hispanic-owned suppliers.
For the second year in a row, Latin Business, a national, bimonthly magazine that celebrates U.S. Latino entrepreneurs and professionals, named Qwest to its “Corporate Diversity Honor Roll,” which honors the top companies that recognize the positive benefits of corporate diversity. Companies named to the honor roll demonstrate a proactive approach to overall diversity, an above-average level of understanding of the importance of diversity, well-executed diversity initiatives and effective communication of diversity efforts.
Qwest has also been recognized by LATINA Style Magazine in the publication’s 11th annual list of the top 50 companies for Latinas to work for in the United States. The criteria include: number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, Latina board members, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, dependent/child care support, employee benefits, women’s issues, job retraining, affinity groups and Hispanic relations. This is the second consecutive year Qwest has appeared on the list.
