Qwest Now Delivers 411 Service Via Text Message To Qwest Wireless Customers

DENVER, June 1, 2006 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced the addition of a text-messaging option for Qwest Wireless customers when calling 4-1-1 for directory assistance service

Now, when Qwest Wireless customers call directory assistance, an operator will verbally give them the number requested and also will ask if they would like the number sent to their phone via text-message. The text message appears within minutes on the customer's wireless handset.

"Directory assistance service has always been about convenience, and adding text-messaging to Qwest's service delivers extra convenience to wireless callers," says Clark Conniff, director of operator information services Qwest. "An increasing number of consumers are turning to wireless phone service for its mobility and functionality, and this new directory assistance feature further increases the value of Qwest's wireless offering."

"Second only to messaging applications, mobile consumers are most eager to get information and directions on the go," said Yankee Group analyst Jill Aldort. "With virtually 100 percent of handsets in the US capable of text messaging, it is smart for Qwest to leverage this channel and deliver additional value to its directory assistance service."

Standard text-messaging and directory assistance rates apply to this new directory assistance service. Qwest Wireless offers text-messaging service for $0.05 per message, capped at $15 per month. Qwest Wireless customers who do not have text-messaging activated on their cell phones can activate the feature free of charge by calling Qwest at 1 800-244-1111.
