DENVER, August 14, 2008 — Qwest Communications (NYSE: Q) announced today that its network infrastructure is prepared for the Democratic National Convention (DNC). As the Official Telecommunications Provider of the DNC, Qwest is proud to support the digital communications infrastructure of such an important international event. With the expected volume of calls, e-mails, instant messaging, text messages, blogs, videos, etc. coming from the convention, the amount of data being transferred is expected to be unprecedented.

· The aggregate data capacity of Qwest’s network is about 50 billion bits per second. That means:

The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) announced in January that Qwest would serve as the Official Telecommunications Provider for the DNC’s Aug. 25-28 event in Denver. As the Official Telecommunications Provider, Qwest is providing wireline voice and data services, including high-speed Internet, for the DNCC administrative offices, approximately 5,000 delegates and more than 15,000 members of the media expected to visit Denver for the convention, as estimated by the convention committee.
