Qwest Names David H. Gibson As Montana State President
Denver, December 4, 2006 - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced the appointment of David H. Gibson as the company's state president in Montana.
Prior to joining Qwest, Gibson was associate commissioner of higher education for the Montana University System. Previously, he was Montana's first chief business development officer and led the state's office of economic development. Earlier, Gibson was a senior executive at Weyerhaeuser, where he held several leadership roles, including general manager and president of a business unit. He started his career at Frito-Lay after serving as a captain in the U.S. Army Rangers.

Gibson, who was raised in Kalispell, Mont., earned a B.A. in applied mathematics from Harvard University and an M.B.A. in finance and operations from Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business. He and his family now live in Helena.
Gibson succeeds Rick Hays, who retired last month after working at Qwest and its predecessor companies for more than 30 years.
