Qwest Helps Upromise Members Plug into College Savings

DENVER, June 15, 2009 —Qwest (NYSE:Q) and Upromise, the college savings rewards program that helps its 10 million members save money toward their dreams of higher education, have teamed up to help families reconcile concerns about saving for college and spending smartly from day-to-day. Upromise members can now add communication and entertainment services to their already-robust list of mon/p>

  • Upromise members can earn up to $125 in college savings by calling 1-866-591-3394 or visiting to purchase new Qwest service, like high-speed Internet that includes enhancements like free 2GB of automatic online backup space, as well as long-distance service and DIRECTV’s video service. For greater discounts, customers can customize a bundle of Qwest services.
  • To redeem savings, members must return to the Upromise Web site at and enter their Qwest billing phone number within 60 days of placing the Qwest order.
  • All Upromise earnings are saved in a member’s Upromise account. Then, the member can decide to grow their savings in a tax-free 529 plan to pay for college, use it to pay down a Sallie Mae student loan or receive a check for college expenses.
