Qwest Foundation To Award $50,000 in Iowa Teachers and Technology Grants

 DES MOINES, IA., Nov. 1, 2010 — The Qwest Foundation n announced today that they will award $50,000 to Iowa public school teachers through the Qwest Teachers and Technology grant program.

The Qwest Foundation Teachers and Technology grant program recognizes teachers who are finding innovative ways to integrate technology into their curriculum and teaching practices to improve student achievement. 

"The effective use of technology enables us to expand our curriculum and increase our expectations of what our students will be able to know and do, “ says Mary Delagardelle, Iowa School Boards Foundation Executive Director. “This is a wonderful opportunity to take teaching and learning beyond what's typical in classrooms today."

The Qwest Teachers and Technology grants will be awarded to teachers through a competitive process administered by the Iowa School Boards Foundation. Pre-K through 12th-grade teachers with ideas to use technology in the classroom to engage students, enhance student performance, and prepare them for life in a technologically advanced world, are eligible to apply.

“For the past 4 years, Qwest has been proud to support the efforts of Iowa teachers who are using technology to enrich learning,” said Max Phillips, Qwest Iowa President. “We look forward to seeing how this year’s grant applicants plan to bring new learning opportunities to schools across our state.”
