Qwest Foundation Helps Bring Pioneer Theater Company Alive for Local Students

SALT LAKE CITY, June 6, 2008 – The Qwest Foundation today demonstrated its support of the Pioneer Theater Company (PTC) with a $10,000 donation. The grant provides student programs that introduce literature performance and post-show study materials and discussion.

“The Pioneer Theater Company is a vital element in the fabric of our community,” said Jerry Fenn, Qwest Utah president. “I’ve enjoyed a number of productions here and appreciated every one of them. I’m pleased that the Qwest Foundation is able to help open PTC’s doors for students, and maybe they, too, will develop an appreciation for theatre.”
”The Qwest Foundation believes in PTC’s responsibility as a resident theater to provide opportunities for all residents of the Wasatch Front to learn about and experience professional theatre,” said Chris Lino, PTC managing director. “PTC’s educational programs help deepen understanding, appreciation and connection to the theatre by young people. We’re glad that the Qwest Foundation is part of our team.”
PTC is a not-for-profit professional theater in residence at the University of Utah. The theatre produces seven shows annually and serves more than 100,000 patrons, including 11,000 K-12 students.
